Aer Lingus is dramatically increasing capacity on its service from Manchester to New York’s JFK for the summer season.

The transatlantic service from the UK’s northwest city was first launched just over a year ago – see our review here.

As of today, the Irish carrier has begun deploying an Airbus A330 aircraft on the route to increase seat capacity on each flight by 72 percent.

This includes 317 seats in economy (up from 184) and 30 fully-flat business class seats (up from 14).

Previously, the route was served by a single-aisle A321LR aircraft, which will now be redeployed onto transatlantic routes from Dublin (including Hartford, which resumed last month) as well as the new Dublin to Cleveland service, which is set to take off next. months.

Aer Lingus also operates daily direct services from Manchester to Orlando, plus a seasonal winter service to Barbados that is due to restart in November.
