Atiq Ahmed Son Encounter: Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed has confessed that he has direct links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. The UP police said this in the charge sheet filed.
Atiq has been quoted in the chargesheet as saying, “I have no shortage of weapons, as I have direct links with Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.” Weapons from Pakistan are dropped on the Punjab border with the help of drones and local terrorists collect them. If you take me with you, I can help you recover that money, arms and ammunition used in the incident.
Life imprisonment to Atiq
On March 28, Atiq Ahmed was convicted by an MP-MLA court and sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment in the now-deceased Umesh Pal kidnapping case. The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested three people from the national capital for allegedly helping Asad, son of jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed, and conspiring to kill Umesh Pal. The three arrested people have been identified as Javed, Khalid and Zeeshan. During the investigation, Khalid and Zeeshan revealed that they had also given shelter to Asad and Ghulam.
Atiq not allowed to attend son’s last rites
Umesh Pal, the key witness in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Raju Pal, and one of his two armed security escorts were shot dead on 24 February. Several rounds were fired and bombs were hurled at Umesh and his gunmen.
Meanwhile, official sources said Atiq Ahmed would not be allowed to attend the last rites of his son Asad and his wife’s family members could claim the body. The dead body of Asad, an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, who was killed in the encounter, will be handed over to his maternal grandfather and maternal uncle. The family of the shooter Ghulam will not take his body.
