Imran Khan Marriage With Bushra Bibi: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan married Bushra Bibi in the year 2018. The cleric who conducted this marriage has disclosed that it was not done according to the Islamic Sharia law. Maulvi Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who canceled the Islamic Nikah, said that this Nikah took place during the iddat period of Bushra Bibi.
Iddat is the period which generally lasts for three months. It is considered as a waiting period that a Muslim woman has to observe to spend the time after her husband’s death or divorce.
Hearing on marriage related dispute
According to the news agency, Maulvi Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Wednesday (April 12) gave his testimony against the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the dispute related to Nikah. During the hearing, the cleric testified that Bushra Bibi was on iddat during the marriage. Muhammad Hanif had filed a petition regarding the matter related to this, after which this matter became public.
The cleric said that he had good relations with the former PM and was also a member of his core committee. He said that Mr. Khan took him to Lahore to conduct the couple’s marriage.
Bushra Bibi took divorce in 2017
According to the cleric’s statement, a woman claiming to be Bushra’s sister had assured him that all Sharia rules had been met for their marriage. She is free to marry Imran Khan.
After the assurance of the woman, the cleric got both of them married on January 1, 2018. After this both went to Islamabad. However, a month after the marriage i.e. on February, Imran Khan again contacted the Maulvi to get them married again, because Bushra’s Iddat had not been completed before this.
Bushra had divorced her first husband in November 2017. For this reason, Imran Khan did not accept his first marriage as valid according to Sharia law.
