Asad Ahmed Encounter: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police killed Asad, son of mafia Atiq Ahmed, in an encounter in Jhansi on Thursday (April 13). Since the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj, many teams of UP Police were searching for him. UP police took 49 days to reach Asad. During this, he kept changing his location continuously.

Umesh Pal’s murder in broad daylight on February 24 shook the state. The manner in which Umesh Pal was chased and killed with bombs and bullets, raised questions on the UP government’s claim of controlling the criminals. The echo of the massacre was also heard in the UP Assembly. CM Yogi Adityanath had announced in the House that he would raze the mafias to the ground. After this the UP police started action and the countdown of the miscreants involved in the murder started.

Keeping Asad and shooter Ghulam safe had become a challenge for Atiq and Ashraf after the UP police came into action. UP Police teams were constantly active to reach Asad. On the other hand, Atik was repeatedly changing his location to hide it. Atiq had also taken the help of some of his acquaintances in hiding him. In Prayagraj itself on the day of the murder

Umesh Pal was murdered on 24 February. After that, one day Asad was hiding in a house in Prayagraj itself.

On February 26, Asad used a bike to escape the city and reached Kanpur, 200 km from Prayagraj.

Kanpur to Delhi

Asad remained hidden in Kanpur for two days. On February 28, he reached Delhi’s Anand Vihar bus stand by bus. In Delhi, he lived in Jamia Nagar and Sangam Vihar areas. The police had reached the person who helped him in Delhi, but before that he had left.

Delhi to Ajmer, then Mumbai

After staying in Delhi for more than 15 days, Asad left for Ajmer on 15 March. After Ajmer, Asad left for Mumbai. Later he went to Nashik.

Return to Kanpur and encounter in Jhansi

He returned once again from Nashik and reached Kanpur. After coming to Kanpur, he reached Jhansi, where he was shot by the police.

During the entire absconding, Assad never traveled by train. He did the entire journey by bus or other vehicles only.

Arrests hiding in Delhi

A person named Haider helped him hide in Delhi. Haider is currently lodged in Bareilly Jail. Three of Haider’s acquaintances have been arrested from Delhi.
