Starting June 13, fast-growing flag carrier Kuwait Airways will launch a twice-weekly service connecting its Kuwait base with the Hungarian capital Budapest.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. They will depart at 0930 and arrive at 1320. The returns depart back to Kuwait an hour later, at 1420, and are scheduled to land at 1955.
The Kuwait-Budapest route will be operated by Kuwait Airways’ new-technology Airbus A320 neo aircraft.
These aircraft, despite being single aisle, offer an elevated passenger experience with updated cabins and advanced IFE and connectivity.
There are 12 business class and only 122 economy class seats on these aircraft. Business is in a 2-2 layout with generous seat pitch and recline. Economy is in a standard 3-3 configuration but with some industry-leading legroom.
To compare, both British Airways and Lufthansa squeeze 180 seats into their A320 neo aircraft and these aircraft sometimes operate sectors nearly as long as Kuwait-Budapest.
Perhaps a better comparison, however, would be SriLankan Airlines. That airline fits 150 seats in its A320 neo fleet – 12 in business and 138 in economy. This translates into almost three extra rows in economy compared to Kuwait Airways.
Separately, Kuwait Airways this week also confirmed that it would increase its Kuwait-Munich flying to thrice-weekly from April 18, increasing to four-weekly starting June 1.
From a passenger perspective, this route is arguably a lot more exciting as Kuwait Airways is deploying its most premium aircraft on the Munich route, the flagship Boeing 777-300ER.
These aircraft come with first class, business class and economy seating.
First class passengers may choose between eight enclosed suites configured 1-2-1, while the 36 business class seats are in a 2-2-2 layout and economy class is configured in a comfortable 3-3-3 configuration. Just like on its A320neo, economy is especially spacious on the Kuwait 777s.
Flights between Kuwait and Munich will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
