US Pentagon Classified Documents: America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a 21-year-old boy in connection with the leaking of classified documents. The arrested boy works in the US Air Force National Guard. His name is Jack Teixeira. Jack Teixeira is also said to be the leader of an online gaming chat group. He had leaked the files in the gaming chat group itself.
According to BBC and Guardian reports, US officials said the boy would be charged under the Espionage Act. He has shared classified documents revealing America’s military secrets as well as the relationships of allies associated with them.
The house arrest of the accused
According to the Guardian’s report, Teixeira was arrested by FBI agents from his home in the city of North Dayton, Massachusetts. After his arrest, a team of agents asked him to walk backwards. The agents pointed their rifles at Teixeira, arresting him and taking him outside.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed Teixeira’s arrest. He said that Teixeira has been arrested for allegedly spreading classified national security information in an unauthorized manner. Teixeira will be produced before the Air National Guardsman Massachusetts District Court in Boston.
Who is Jack Teixeira?
According to a BBC report, Teixeira joined the Air Force in 2019 and joined the 102nd Intelligence Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, which is a reserve of the US Air Force. Jack Teixeira was part of a private online group. He was the leader of an online chat group where hundreds of photos of secret and top-secret documents were uploaded for the first time from late March to late last year, the Guardian reported.
The report said that Teixeira’s family reportedly has a long history of military service. His stepfather Thomas Dufault retired after serving 34 years.
