Karnataka Elections: BJP leader Jagadish Shettar, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and angry with the party, has given an ultimatum till Saturday (April 15) to release the third list of candidates for the assembly elections to be held on May 10. Till now BJP has released only the second list of candidates. The party has announced 213 names out of 224 and 11 names are yet to be announced.
At the same time, when Jagadish Shettar was asked about contesting the elections, he said that he would decide after talking to his supporters. He said that when he met BJP leaders, they gave a positive response. He told me that he would have to talk to senior leaders for a decision. He said on Thursday (April 14) that he would wait till tomorrow morning. He will hold a meeting with his well-wishers till noon. He says that his supporters are coming from all over the state.
‘BJP should not have done this’
Shettar further said that BJP should not have done this. The party has insulted him. Had promised to take the decision before them and stand with the party. He said that if BJP does not announce the list then he will take the next step. He had also said the same during his meeting with BJP President JP Nadda that he would wait only for two more days.
Many BJP leaders are angry
On the other hand, 16 BJP members of Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation submitted their collective resignation to the party’s state chief Nalin Kumar Kateel in protest against the delay in announcing the ticket to Shettar. BJP released the first list of 189 candidates and the second list of 23 candidates, due to which many leaders are angry. Many MLAs and MLCs were expecting tickets, but their names were not there in both.
