CM Baghel said- ‘Governors of non-BJP ruled states should be reviewed’, BJP counterattacks

Chhattisgarh News: Politics has started on the rights of the Governor in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has questioned the role of governors of non-BJP ruled states. He has said to review the role of governors. At the same time, BJP has expressed strong objection to this statement of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Former BJP minister Brijmohan Agrawal has accused the Chief Minister of insulting the Constitution.

Actually, government recruitments are stuck in Chhattisgarh for the last 6 months. Bilaspur High Court canceled more than 50 percent reservation in the state. That’s why the Congress government of Chhattisgarh passed a reservation amendment bill in the assembly to increase the reservation. It is stuck in the Raj Bhavan for the last 4 months. The governor has not approved it. There is a situation of confrontation between the state government and the Raj Bhavan regarding this.

CM said – the role of Raj Bhavan should be reviewed

On the other hand, on Friday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, while talking to the media in Raipur, made a big allegation on the Governor regarding the reservation bill stuck in the Raj Bhavan for a long time. He said, “The role of the Raj Bhavan should be reviewed in all the non-BJP ruled states. For how long can a bill be stalled. If it has to be sent to the President, then it is a different matter. But reservation is definitely there.” It is a state subject. The governor is sitting on hold for 4-5 months. The students here have to take admission and get jobs. If the reservation bill is stopped in such a way, then there should definitely be a review. Further, he asked for how many days a bill can be stopped. Return it or sign it. What is the work of stopping it? Does the governor have so much right to put the lives and future of the youth of the state in danger. No one should get the right.”

BJP expressed strong objection

The BJP has strongly objected to the question being raised by the Congress party on the role of the Governor. Former minister Brijmohan Agarwal hit back at the Chief Minister and said that the constitution under which you have become the Chief Minister. You are putting a question mark on that. He taunted and asked whether the constitution and the rights of the governor would be at your convenience? You are insulting the Constitution by talking about reviewing the powers of the Governor. You have started considering yourself above the President, the Parliament and the Constitution. Further, Brijmohan told the Chief Minister that who will review your rights? You speak against the Governor, you speak against the Constitution. Even Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Narasimha Rao never spoke like this.

Government recruitment stopped due to reservation dispute

Significantly, on September 19, 2022, the Bilaspur High Court had canceled 58 percent reservation in the state. After this, the tribal society opened a front against the government. Demonstrations started happening on the streets daily. Then the government called a special session of the Legislative Assembly and passed a bill to increase the reservation of ST, OBC and General in the state on 2 December. After this, the reservation in the state became 76 percent. But the then Governor Anusuiya Uike did not approve this bill. Now the new Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan has also distanced himself from the reservation.
