Karnataka Elections 2023: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and MLA Jagadish Shettar resigned from the BJP on Saturday (April 15). Shettar, who has been a six-time MLA from the Hubli-Dharwad Central region, was denied ticket by the BJP for the assembly elections this time. Angered by this, Jagdish Shettar left the party. Earlier, senior party leader and former deputy CM Laxman Savadi resigned from the party. At the same time, former Chief Minister of the state BS Yeddyurappa has also reacted to his resignation.
Talking to reporters, BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa said that the party will never forgive Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi. Let us tell you that there was news quoting sources that in this regard, BJP had given many options to Shettar, but he kept himself above the party.
‘BJP will never forgive Shettar and Savadi’
On April 12 itself, Karnataka BJP’s senior leader and former deputy CM Laxman Savadi resigned from the party. Savadi had said that I have made my decision. I am not one of those who roam around with a begging bowl. I am a self-respecting politician. I am not working under anyone’s influence. At the same time, Jagdish Shettar, who is considered to be very influential in the Hubli-Dharwad central region, has also left the party. Although according to the news agency ANI, the party had given him the option of governorship, but Shettar was not ready. Yeddyurappa’s statement has now come to the fore regarding this matter. He spoke of never forgiving both the leaders.
Jagadish Shettar on Sunday (April 16) met Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri at his residence in Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district and resigned from his membership of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. During this, he told reporters that he would leave for Bengaluru to resign from the BJP. He said, ‘I have decided to leave BJP. No one is looking back. I will not reconsider my decision.
