Atiq Ahmed-Ashraf Shot Dead: Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead late on Saturday (April 15) in police custody in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. After this kind of murder of a high profile criminal, many questions are also arising. Opposition leaders have targeted the police. AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi has said that the police did not fire a single bullet. However, an eyewitness present there has made a different claim.

Shivkumar, a correspondent of a private media organization present at the spot, has claimed that the police had also fired. However, it did not deter the criminals. In a conversation with a private TV channel, it was told that when the attackers opened fire on Atiq, at the same time a policeman also retaliated.

Shivakumar told that he was present there for reporting. Atiq and Ashraf were brought in a police vehicle. After getting down from the two police jeeps, they had walked only about 10 steps, when the attackers started firing. Atiq Ahmed was shot first and second. The next bullet hit Ashraf. Both fell on the ground and even after that the attackers kept firing.

Eyewitnesses claimed that they saw a policeman firing towards the criminals after the attackers fired, but the bullet did not hit the target. He was about to fire the next shot, when the criminals surrendered by raising their hands.

Shivkumar told that when the firing started, he dropped one of his fellow journalists on the ground and lay down on him. He told that all the three attackers had come in the form of media persons. However, he also said that he had never seen the attackers before.
