He was also a part of the Indian team in the 2010 ICC Under-19 World Cup, which also included players like KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Harpreet was made a part of the team of Kolkata Knight Riders in the year 2010. After this, in the year 2011, Harpreet was made a part of the team of Pune Warriors.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team did include Harpreet in their team after Sarfaraz Khan was injured in the year 2017, but he could not get a chance to play in a single match. Now against Lucknow, he got a chance to play in IPL after 3,981 days.
