Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kareli Shwetabh Pandey told that the incident took place when Atiq and Ashraf were brought to the hospital for routine check-up. He also told that all the three accused have been caught and they are being interrogated. However, he did not give any other details. According to the police, three pistols, a motorcycle, a video camera and the logo of a news channel were found lying at the spot. It is suspected that the three attackers came posing as media persons and carried out the incident. He had also hung his identity card around his neck.

Reacting to the murder of former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Atiq Ahmed (60) and his former MLA brother Ashraf, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “Crime has reached its peak in Uttar Pradesh and the morale of the criminals is high.” Are. Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were brought here for trial in connection with the 2005 Umesh Pal murder case. Umesh Pal, the key witness in the murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal, and his two police security guards were shot dead outside their Dhumanganj residence on 24 February. On February 25, a case was registered against Ahmed, Ashraf, Ahmed’s wife Shaista Parveen, two sons, Guddu Muslim and Ghulam, and nine others on the basis of a complaint lodged by Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal.
