Yes Bank of the private sector may not be counted in the list of the biggest companies of the stock market, but it has made such a unique record in the stock market, in which the top companies have been left miles behind. Yes Bank has achieved this record by beating the biggest company of the market Reliance Industries and the biggest bank SBI.

The figure crossed 50 lakhs

According to the data, the number of shareholders of Yes Bank has crossed 50 lakhs. In this way, Yes Bank is the only company in the Indian stock market, which has more than 50 lakh shareholders. In this case, the top companies of the stock market like Reliance Industries, TCS, HDFC Bank etc. cannot stay anywhere around Yes Bank.

So far behind Reliance, TCS

As per the latest shareholding pattern, the number of shareholders of Yes Bank currently stands at 50.57 lakh. In comparison, Reliance Industries, the largest company by market cap, has 33.62 lakh shareholders. TCS, the second largest company in the stock market, and HDFC Bank, the third largest company, remain around half as compared to Yes Bank. TCS currently has 25.56 lakh shareholders, while HDFC Bank has 22.90 lakh shareholders.

Other banks left miles behind

Talking about banking companies, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank, the favorite stocks of stock market investors, prove to be dwarfs in front of Yes Bank in terms of the number of shareholders. According to the data till the end of March 2023, ICICI Bank currently has 17.80 lakh shareholders. Similarly, Kotak Mahindra Bank has 5.82 lakh and Axis Bank has 8.46 lakh shareholders.

The country’s largest bank SBI is also left behind here. SBI currently has about 28 lakh shareholders. However, at present SBI is the largest shareholder of Yes Bank. SBI holds 26.14 per cent stake in Yes Bank. At the same time, LIC has 4.34 percent, Axis Bank has 1.57 percent, ICICI Bank has 2.61 percent and IDFC First Bank has 1 percent shares of Yes Bank.
