Why is Congress divided over CM Arvind Kejriwal? know the whole controversy

Congress on Arvind Kejriwal: Mutual differences among Congress leaders is not a new thing, but this is perhaps the first time in the last many years that party leaders are giving statements against any strategic move of the Congress leadership. At the root of the controversy is Arvind Kejriwal, the CM of Delhi and the head of the Aam Aadmi Party, who was called by Congress President Kharge after being summoned by the CBI, and a new problem arose for the Congress. Congress leaders from Delhi to Punjab got confused by this move of the party leadership. Finally, former Union Minister Ajay Maken raised his voice of protest.

The ice is melting between Congress and Kejriwal
In fact, in connection with the investigation of the alleged liquor scam, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by the CBI on Friday, then Congress President Kharge called him. The Congress has been accusing the Modi government of misusing agencies against opposition leaders. Obviously Kharge’s call, Kejriwal was seen as Congress’s support. Earlier, when Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in a defamation case and his Lok Sabha membership was cancelled, Arvind Kejriwal had openly given a statement in favor of Rahul Gandhi. The Aam Aadmi Party continued to participate in the Parliament and then in the meeting of opposition parties held at Kharge’s house. It is clear that Congress and Kejriwal are coming closer in view of opposition unity and possible alliance in the Lok Sabha elections.

Why did Ajay Maken get heated on Kharge’s initiative?
But giving a big blow to this closeness, Ajay Maken, former president of Delhi Congress and one of the senior leaders of the party, issued a statement saying that Kejriwal, surrounded by corruption charges, should not be supported. Maken termed the probe into the Excise Policy issue as necessary and alleged that Kejriwal has used the proceeds of corruption against the Congress in several state elections. Maken also appealed Congress leaders like Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appear in court for the Kejriwal government, not to do so without naming them.

Congress is refraining from saying anything on Kharge’s phone call to Kejriwal and Maken’s statement. However, high sources of the party are terming these statements as personal opinion. But the Congress is neither able to officially support Kejriwal nor refute the statements of its leaders.

Sandeep Dixit also opened front against Kejriwal
Before Maken, Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dixit while talking to ABP News termed Kejriwal as corrupt and mafia and said that Kharge is trying for opposition unity but Delhi Congress will not sit silent against Kejriwal.

Congress leaders of many states want distance from Kejriwal
ABP News has come to know that Congress leaders from Punjab to Gujarat are supporting Andarkhane Maken. The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab is taking action against the former Congress CM and several ministers. The Congress leaders of Gujarat are also considering the Aam Aadmi Party as the reason behind the debacle in the last assembly elections.

In fact, the focus of the Congress leadership is on uniting the opposition parties for the next Lok Sabha elections. But the leaders who are not in favor of supporting Arvind Kejriwal argue that it was the Aam Aadmi Party that ousted the Congress from power in Delhi and Punjab. The alleged liquor scam that has created so much ruckus was first raised by the Delhi Congress.

Apart from this, in the past, Kejriwal made many stinging statements against the Gandhi family. The Aam Aadmi Party passed a resolution in the Delhi Assembly against the Bharat Ratna awarded to Rajiv Gandhi. The Aam Aadmi Party is now a national party, in such a situation many Congress leaders feel that a soft approach towards Kejriwal may be costly.

Kapil Sibal in favor of Congress-AAP alliance
Senior leader and currently independent Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal told ABP News that if there is an alliance between the two parties then all the seven seats in Delhi can be won. However, Sibal also said that if Kejriwal asks for seats outside Delhi, then the screw may get stuck.

Arvind Kejriwal, who formed the party by agitating against the UPA government, was helped by the Congress to form the first government and in 2013 the Aadmi Party government was formed in Delhi. Since then, the Congress’s account has not been opened in two Lok Sabha and two assembly elections in Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party has also not been able to win a Lok Sabha seat in Delhi so far. The Congress leadership wants to open an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party to open its account in the next Lok Sabha elections, but the party leaders of Delhi feel that this alliance may lead to the closure of the Congress account forever.

However, due to political compulsion, there is a possibility of coming together with Congress and Kejriwal. At present, both the parties are silent about the alliance and that is why it is not even clear that if there is an alliance in future, it will be limited to Delhi or some big formula will be formed by including other states. Delhi and Punjab together have 20 Lok Sabha seats. The Aam Aadmi Party has expanded its reach to Haryana, Goa, Gujarat. It is very difficult to estimate how much Kejriwal would be willing to sacrifice for the Congress and the Congress for Kejriwal.
