Sachin Pilot and Navjot Sidhu got place in the list of star campaigners of Congress

Jalandhar Bye Election Congress Star Campaigners: Congress on Wednesday (April 19) released the list of star campaigners for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election. Former Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu have also been included in this list. Earlier in the day, the Congress had also released the list of star campaigners for the Karnataka assembly elections, but the names of Sachin Pilot and Sidhu were not there.

The exclusion of Sachin Pilot from the list of Karnataka’s star campaigners was being considered as a message of strictness from the party. In fact, Sachin Pilot recently went on a one-day fast against the Gehlot government amid the ongoing tussle in the Rajasthan Congress. The former Deputy Chief Minister had fasted in protest against the present Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government not taking action in the cases of alleged corruption during the tenure of the previous Vasundhara Raje government.

Name missing from Karnataka, place found in Jalandhar

This fast was believed to be the reason for the absence of Pilot’s name in the list of Karnataka’s star campaigners. However, a few hours later, Pilot was included in the list of star campaigners for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election. Rajasthan Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also gave a strong message to the office bearers and workers on Wednesday saying that no one is above the Congress, the leader is because of the Congress, all the leaders will have to work under the Congress.

This name in the list of star campaigners

The list of star campaigners of Jalandhar includes the names of former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Himachal CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Manish Tiwari and other leaders. The by-election for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat is to be held on May 10.

By-election after the death of Congress MP

The by-election is being held here after the death of Congress MP from Jalandhar, Santokh Singh Chowdhary. Santokh Singh Chowdhary died in January this year due to a heart attack during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Congress has nominated Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary as its candidate from this seat. Karamjit Kaur is the wife of late MP Santokh Singh Chowdhary.

Nomination papers were filed on Thursday

Karamjit Kaur filed her nomination papers on Thursday. During this, Punjab Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa, former Chief Ministers Charanjit Singh Channi and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and former MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu also accompanied him.

In this by-election, SAD-BSP alliance candidate Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, BJP’s Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Gurjant Singh and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sushil Rinku are contesting.
