Gujarat Riots: In the Naroda village violence, 69 accused including former ministers Maya Kodnani, Babu Bajrangi, Jaideep Patel have been acquitted. The Special Court of Gujarat gave its verdict in this matter on Thursday (April 20). 11 people died in this massacre. On February 27, 2002, many people were burnt alive in Godhra, Gujarat by pouring petrol in the compartment of the Sabarmati Express returning from Ayodhya.

In response to this, Gujarat bandh was announced on 28 February 2002. Meanwhile, communal riots had broken out across Gujarat, including the city of Ahmedabad. In these riots, 11 people were allegedly burnt alive inside and outside Naroda village on 28 February.

There were a total of 86 accused in the case, including former BJP MLA Maya Kodnani and Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi, but 18 of them died during the trial. On 28 February 2002, riots broke out in the Naroda Village area of ‚Äč‚ÄčAhmedabad city, a day after the Godhra train burning incident killed 58 passengers returning from Ayodhya.
