India is more young than China! Indian youth are 10 years younger – see this report of UNFPA

World Population 2023: India has now become the most populous country in the world. According to the report of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the population of India has increased to 142 crore 86 lakhs. Whereas, the population of China, which has been number one in this matter for centuries, is now 29 lakh less than ours, ie 142 crore 57 lakh.

According to World Population Prospects (WPP), India now has more youth than any other country in the world. The data released on Wednesday (April 19) shows that the average age of the population of India is 28.2 years, which means that the average age of the Indian population is 10 years younger than the population of China. This is a good thing. The UNFPA report states that the average age of Chinese people is 39 years. In terms of global ranking, India and China are ranked 94th and 170th youngest among those 237 countries.

The average age of the people of the continent of Asia is 31.9 years.
The board-based regional analysis shows that Asia is the third youngest geographic group with a median age of 31.9 years. At the same time, Africa is the youngest continent with a median age of only 18.8 years and Latin America is narrowly behind Asia with a median age of 31 years. At the same time, the average age of the people of North America and Europe is 38.4 years and 42.2 years respectively.

The average age of Indians is shorter than that of Sri Lanka.
An analysis of population data in the South Asian region reveals that India’s average age is much lower than that of Sri Lanka (32.99 years), compared to Pakistan (20.62 years), Nepal (24.41 years) and Bangladesh (27.06 years). More than. An analysis of median age data from the World Population Prospects (WPP) shows that India’s median age was lowest in 1968 (18.23 years) and has been increasing gradually since then. For China, the mean age was lowest in 1969 (17.96 years).

In this way, we will be in a better position than China
The trend of median age roughly coincides with the population growth rate as well. From the decade ending in 1965, the rolling decadal CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of India’s population started decreasing. This CAGR increased for some time from 1975 to 1986, but continued to decline every year thereafter. This trend is predicted to continue till the year 2100 as this rolling CAGR of India’s population has decreased earlier and will further be negative in 2070. At the same time, China’s rolling decadal CAGR has been continuously decreasing since 1972 and will turn negative in 2028, that is, in just 5 years.
