Britain evacuates family of embassy officials amid ongoing war in Sudan

Sudan: Even after a week, the war in Sudan continues. Things are getting serious. Internet has been shut down in the country. Citizens of many countries are trapped in the ongoing violence between the army and paramilitary forces. Efforts are on to remove them. Indian citizens are also stranded in Sudan, some of whom have been safely evacuated.

Now the United Kingdom successfully evacuated its embassy staff from Sudan on Sunday. UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that the safety of British citizens is a top priority for the UK government. Earlier, France started a campaign to evacuate its citizens from Sudan.

British PM praised the soldiers

Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has confirmed the evacuation of his embassy staff from Sudan. He told that the armed forces have brought back diplomats and their families from Sudan. During this, PM Sunak has praised the soldiers who rescued their citizens by conducting a rescue operation in Sudan. Along with this, the British PM also urged to implement ceasefire in Sudan.

Tweeting, PM Sunak said that we are doing everything possible to end the ongoing violence in Sudan and to ensure the safety of British citizens remaining in the country. Appealing to Sudan’s army and paramilitary forces, he said that weapons should be laid down now. An immediate humanitarian ceasefire should be implemented so that stranded citizens of other countries can be evacuated safely.

More than 400 people have died

Significantly, so far more than 400 people have lost their lives in the ongoing violence in Sudan. Also, more than four thousand people are injured. Earlier, the war was stopped for 72 hours on the festival of Eid. Which is over now and the struggle continues.
