ICPA and the Indian Pilots Guild have asked their members to reject the proposed new terms of employment. Air India pilots have appealed to Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran to intervene in the matter to resolve the disagreement over the work conditions and pay structure announced by Air India recently. A senior Air India official said that Air India is in touch with the employees regarding the new work conditions and pay structure. The Indian Pilots Association (ICPA) and the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) passed a joint resolution saying that if the management sacks an employee for non-compliance with the new service conditions, the union will continue to reinstate these employees. Earlier, Air India had announced to increase the salary of its pilots and cabin-crew members. Under the 5-year transformation plan, Air India will increase the salary of its 2700 pilots, including pilots of Air Asia India and Air India Express. Apart from this, the salary of 5600 cabin crew will also be increased. Tata Group’s Air India has decided to change the compensation structure of pilots and cabin crew members. It has also been decided to increase the hourly flying rates of pilots. The bone of contention is the flying allowance of 40 hours which used to be 70 hours before the pandemic.
