Chandigarh News: The Punjab-Haryana High Court on Monday fined the central government in a case. The High Court has ordered the central government and the military authority to return the deducted pension along with interest, regarding the reduction in the pension benefit of a retired soldier issued since April 1979. Justice JS Puri said in his decision that after 40 years, the authority came to know in 2019 that more pension has been given to retired soldiers. But it is unfair to withdraw it now. Justice Puri said that we cannot punish others for our own mistakes. 

Rupee will have to be returned with 6 percent interest
Punjab-Haryana High Court, while giving a verdict in favor of the retired soldier, said that his deducted pension amount will be returned within three months at the rate of 6 percent interest. be refunded along with But if the amount is not refunded within this time limit, then the amount will have to be paid with 9 percent interest. At the same time, the High Court also ordered the authority to pay 25 thousand rupees for forcing the 80-year-old soldier to file a petition.  

The constable was recruited in 1964
Kashmir Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, while filing a petition in the High Court, told that in 1964 he was recruited as a constable in the Indian Army. He had retired in 1974. After which he was getting pension, but in the year 2019, the central government came to know that there was a mistake in fixing his pension. Because of which he was paid extra. The pension of the petitioner was re-fixed by the Central Government and it was decided to recover the additional pension given. For which deduction at the rate of Rs 3500 was started every month from the pension. The order for recovery of the additional amount was challenged by the retired soldier.
