Sanchar Sathi Portal Update: The Modi government has launched the Artificial Intelligence-based Sanchar Saathi portal to protect the identity of telecom users, check fraud with their KYC and prevent misuse of their stolen mobile phones. Through this portal, mobile users will be able to trace the location of their stolen phone as well as block it even if the SIM has been changed.
Big step to stop telecom fraud
IT Telecom and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched three major reforms for the sector taking forward the mission of Safety of Telecom users and Digital India. In which CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) was started to block stolen or lost mobile phones. Apart from this, Know Your Mobile Connections in which you can know how many mobile connections are registered in your name. And the third is ASTR (Artificial Intelligence and Facial Recognition powered Solution for Telecom SIM Subscriber Verification) in which fake mobile customers can be identified.
36 lakh fake mobile connections closed
The Telecom Minister said that many types of frauds are done through mobile phones, which include identity theft of users, tampering with KYC, banking fraud. He said that such fraud can be stopped through the Sanchar Saathi portal. Ashwini Vaishnav said that the safety of the users is the most important part of the draft telecom bill. The Telecom Minister informed that the Sanchar Saathi portal has helped in identifying 40 lakh fake mobile connections and out of these 36 lakh connections have been closed. He also appealed to the users to visit the portal.
