BATHINDA: Members of the former and present management committees of a gurdwara clashed inside the sanctum sanctorum of Gurdwara Nishan Sahib in Faridkot on Saturday.
Swords were used, turbans were tossed, and even sacred weapons put before the Bir of the Guru Granth Sahib were used. The bone of contention was the presidentship of the local committee of the gurdwara, situated in Jarman Colony, Faridkot. Three people, including a woman, who were trying to mediate, were injured.

A faction led by Harbans Singh, which previously had control of the committee, was unhappy with the present management headed by Jaswant Singh and wanted to take control. Sources said Jaswant’s faction had been in command for the last three years and elections were due after a year.
